Prof. Antoine Kanyenga Lubobo
National Focal Person for ASARECA in DRC
Prof. Antoine Kanyenga Lubobo is the Country Representative for CIAT and Country Manager, Harvest Plus for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Before joining CIAT, he worked for several years with the Pan African Bean Research Alliance (PABRA) as a National Coordinator of Bean Program in Southern DRC and principal investigator at the National Institute of Agronomic Studies and Research (INERA). He also worked with World Vision and FAO as a Consultant in Food Security and Nutrition. Prof. Lubobo holds a PhD in Plant Breeding and Genetics, and a Master of Sciences (M.Sc.) in Plant Pathology and Crop Protection from the University of Lubumbashi, in DRC where he is professor since 2004. His domain of research is mainly on integrated pests and diseases management, soil fertility and water management, bio-fortification and valorization of underutilized or neglected crops. He has contributed to the development and delivery of bio-fortified crops (bean, maize, sweet potatoes and cassava), under different projects funded by different donors including BMGF, FCDO, USAID, GAC, World Bank, and AFDB either as a coordinator or project manager.
