Dr. Joel L. Meliyo
National Focal Person (NFP) Tanzania
Dr. Joel L. Meliyo is the ASARECA National Focal Person (NFP) for Tanzania. Dr. Meliyo is the Director of Research and Innovation, Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI), under the Ministry of Agriculture. He is a Senior Research Officer, specializing in Soil Science with over 30 years’ professional experience. Dr. Meliyo has participated in implementing and coordinating various national and international research projects. He has also worked in various disciplines mainly in soil science managing salt affected soils, soil fertility, soil and water conservation, and soil acidity and has undertaken research management and technology generation and dissemination through soil improvement initiatives. He holds a PhD in Soil Science from Sokoine University of Agriculture, Morogoro Tanzania, an MSc, and a BSc in Agriculture. Dr. Meliyo has published various papers in reviewed Journals and Book Chapters.
