Dr. Feto Esimo Berisso

Dr. Feto Esimo Berisso is the Director General Ethiopian Institute for Agricultural Research (EIAR). Prior to this appointment, he worked as Assistant professor at Hawassa University in Ethiopia (2013-2017), Lecturer (2007-2009), and Assistant Lecturer (2002-2005) in the same University. Dr Esimo has a PhD in Soil physics and Hydropedology obtained from Aahus University (2013). He also has an M.Sc. in Agricultural and Bio Resources Engineering from Wagenigen University (2007); and a BSc in Agricultural Engineering and Mechanization from Hawassa University (2002). During his PhD studies, Dr. Esimo conducted research in various aspects of soil physical properties and in modelling soil compaction. He has published over eight scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, several manuscripts, and attended international conference papers, and national reports. Under his leadership, the Ethiopian Government has received some of the best technical advice and backstopping that has driven wheat production in the country towards self-sufficiency, which has been credited internationally.
