Dr. Eve Kasirye-Alemu

Vice President ASARECA General Assembly (3013-2023)

Dr. Eve Kasirye-Alemu served as the ASARECA General Assembly President from 2013 to May 2023. Dr. Alemu is a Senior Consultant and Managing Director of Techno-Business and Development Consultants. She is reputed as the founder of the Uganda National Bureau of Standards, which she served as the first Executive Director for 12 years. She was one of the three East African Standards CEOs who established the current common EAC Harmonized Standards programme. Dr. Alemu also served as the National Central Competent Authority Officer for safety and quality of fish and fishery products exports to European Union (EU) and led Uganda to total compliance with EU fish safety, export requirements. She lectured at the Department of Food Technology and Applied Nutrition, University of Nairobi for six years and was part of the team that set up the East Africa MSc. Programme in Applied Human Nutrition. Upon her return to Uganda, she played a significant role in the establishment of the current School of Food Technology, Nutrition and Bio-engineering at Makerere University. Dr. Alemu has previously served as the Board Vice Chairperson of the Private Sector Foundation of Uganda as well as on various governance bodies, including, the National Agricultural Organization Council. She is the Chairperson of Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Ltd, and Uganda Professional Women in Agriculture and Environment. Dr, Kasirye serves as the Coordinator for FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius (worldwide food standards programme) Coordinating Committee for Africa.
