Dr. Ajebesone Francis Ngome
National Focal Person for ASARECA in Cameroon
Dr. Ngome is the Deputy Director General, Institute of Agricultural Research for Development (IRAD), Cameroon. Dr. Ngome has been a researcher at the crop production division of the institute since 2002. He was promoted to Chief Research Officer in 2020. His research interest is in crop agronomy and soil fertility management, particularly in smallholder farming systems. Dr. Ngome has a degree in Agronomy from the University of Dschang, Cameroon, a Master of Science degree and a PhD in Agronomy both from the University of Bonn, Germany. He has coordinated several research and development Projects, supervised over 30 bachelors, masters and doctoral candidates, and authored over 60 peer reviewed scientific articles. Dr. Ngome’s research work has greatly contributed to the socio-economic development of Cameroon through provision of quality seeds of multi-use crop varieties, development of appropriate soil fertility and crop management technologies to boost productivity and enhancement of post-harvest handling, valorization of crop wastes and capacity building of value chain actors.
